About Me

Hi, I’m Laura, and I’m so pleased you found Music Exam Tutor. A classically trained violinist and pianist, I perform regularly with some of the UK’s top orchestras and ensembles. My work has taken me around the globe, performing with popular artists such as Michael Buble and Andrea Bocelli. I also studied theatre in Paris and London, and hold a degree in History of Art. Aside from music and the arts, I love to travel, swim in the sea and spend time with my family.

I’ve been teaching the violin and piano in the UK and internationally for over 15 years, and during this time I’ve guided many pupils through ABRSM graded music examinations. Former students of mine have gone on to play in the National Youth Orchestra, won scholarships to prestigious schools, and attained places in the junior conservatoires in London. I know what it takes to get the top marks, and that’s why I created Music Exam Tutor. 

I wanted to create a system of learning that is efficient, accessible and personal. Music Exam Tutor is exactly that. Book online, selecting only the classes you need. Not sure? No problem!   • Instrumental tuition

    A course of 5 or 10 intensive sessions for violin or piano students, working on exam pieces and scales. Our target is for pupils to be able to confidently perform their exam pieces (with accompaniment for violin) with musical expression and all the elements in place to achieve top marks. Scales will be memorised and perfected. A practice schedule will be uniquely designed for the pupil, along with written feedback and goals.

  • Aural training

    A course of 5 or 10 sessions. Don’t leave this to the last minute! Strong aural skills are essential. We’ll train the ears and build musicianship with engaging, interactive exercises including sight-singing, listening, musicianship, and rhythmic perception.

  • Music theory

    A course of 5 or 10 sessions suitable for pupils working towards passing Grade 5 music theory, or any of the other grades 1-8. A sound knowledge of music theory is essential for good musical interpretation and understanding. We’ll build a strong understanding of music theory, take a mock exam and you’ll receive written feedback and advice on the next steps.

  • Mock exam

    An essential part of exam preparation! Perform all your exam material exactly as you would on the day. Detailed feedback will be given, and advice on the next steps.
